2010 has been a banner year for Waka Flocka Flame, not only in the streets, but also on the Billboard charts.
Now, the Atlanta MC's female-flavored anthem "No Hands," featuring Roscoe Dash and Wale, has been certified gold by the RIAA after selling 500,000 copies. "That feel good, the first song going gold is big for me," Waka Flocka Flame told MTV News at the Power 106 Cali Christmas concert in Los Angeles. "It means that I'm growing as an artist, so I need to take effect to that."
After dropping his mixtape Salute Me or Shoot Me, Vol. 1 in January 2009, many were introduced to the energetic rapper through "O Let's Do It," Waka's breakout record. The rowdy club track quickly became a fan favorite and, a year later — after he peppered the streets with more mixtapes and a guest verse on "Bingo," from Gucci Mane's 2009 LP, The State vs. Radric Davis — [article id="1631343"]"O Let's Do It" got an official remix[/article] featuring Diddy, Rick Ross and Gucci Mane.
Then "Hard in Da Paint" took over the clubs in early 2010, followed by "No Hands," which currently sits at #1 on Billboard's Rap Songs chart, #22 on the Hot 100 and #2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Earlier this year, MTV News' Hip-Hop Brain Trust voted the rapper 2010's [article id="1650468"]#8 Hottest MC in the Game[/article]. "I was like, got-damn!" Waka said at the time. "Oh, sh--, I made it! Hell yeah, I was [surprised]. Come on, man, I never thought I'd be on something like that. Not yet. It's so soon."
