As soon as news broke that [article id="1650975"]Miley Cyrus' parents, Billy Ray and Tish[/article], had separated, rumors began to circulate that one of the causes for the split was an affair that Tish reportedly had with Bret Michaels. Now Michaels is speaking out about the rumors, denying there is any truth to them.
"The answer is no," the singer said when he appeared on "Fox & Friends." "I've been friends with her family forever," Michaels explained, according to People.com. "It started out with me and Miley simply working on a song together. Her mom, Tish, likes 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn,' the first concert Miley ever saw was Poison, and so they wanted to remake it for the new record. ... When I was in the studio, Miley came in and sang on my song ... and that was it."
The pair, who have five children together, announced the split late last month. "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family," they said in a statement. "We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."
Michaels, who has worked with Miley on two songs, has been open about his friendship with the Cyrus family and has praised the teen star for her musical abilities. "She's one of the few musicians — and I want to use that word 'cause she can actually play and sing — she's one of the few people who can pull it off," he said of [article id="1628679"]Cyrus' cover of "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."[/article] "And give it her own flare and make it sound good," he added.
