Katy Perry and Russell Brand were married in India over the weekend, and details about what the new Mrs. Brand wore to her nuptials have been revealed.
According to Usmagazine.com, the pop star walked down the aisle in an Elie Saab haute couture dress that was dove gray with lace sleeves. The website also reports that Perry, who celebrates her 26th birthday on Monday (October 25), had plans to also wear dresses designed by Zuhair Murad and Donna Mizani for the ceremony.
Earlier in the week, Perry tweeted that she hoped everyone would respect the couple's privacy during their wedding celebration in India, which was attended by 80 of the pair's closest friends and family. On Sunday, the pair tweeted matching messages that were titled "We did!" and had an accompanying photo of signs on a wall that read "Katy" and "Russell."
"Russell Brand and Katy Perry are overjoyed to confirm that they were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Brand on Saturday, October 23," the couple, who got engaged last New Year's Eve in India, said in a statement sent to MTV News. "The very private and spiritual ceremony, attended by the couples' closest family and friends, was performed by a Christian minister and longtime friend of the Hudson Family [Katy's maiden name]. The backdrop was the inspirational and majestic countryside of Northern India."
The ceremony began at 5 p.m. local time on Saturday near the wildlife sanctuary at Ranthambore. Traditional Indian instruments were reportedly played at the ceremony and Rajasthani folk musicians also sang at the Aman-i-Khas resort. Sacred Vedic chanting was also heard, as was the sound of applause and cheering from the wedding guests.
The wedding ceremony wrapped up days of celebrations. On Friday night, the couple and their guests celebrated with a Bollywood-themed bash.
