[artist id="2545682"]Drake[/artist] has never shied away from acknowledging artists who inspire him, from Kanye West to the late singer Aaliyah. For his debut, Thank Me Later, the Toronto lyricist had the opportunity to work with West and he sampled Aaliyah's voice on the Young Jeezy-fueled "Unforgettable."
And on his yet-untitled sophomore set, Drake has tapped another of his heroes in former Little Brother maestro 9th Wonder. "I've got some great stuff that I'm really excited about," he told Rap-Up.com. "40's [Noah Shebib] in a really great place so he's making great beats. I started working with 9th Wonder, so yeah, it's good. It's early though."
In the meantime, Drake is wrapping up his R&B mixtape offering It's Never Enough. The first track from the collection, "I Get Lonely Too," arrived online via his blog earlier this week. The song serves as the intro to the mixtape and is an homage to female trio TLC. The rapper even sported a TLC T-shirt during his rehearsals last month for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.
"It's a nod to a phenomenal group," Drake told MTV News this week. "Not a lot of people booked it, but it's like the fan-mail tribute to TLC. It's not a single. It's not to be taken like, 'This is it. This is the one. We're working it to radio. I'm shooting the video in two weeks.' It's just like some music for you to listen to."
