There are probably several things that come to mind when you look at "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. "Published author" is almost certainly not one of them.
And yet, early next year, that will change. Because on Wednesday (September 29), Gallery Books — an imprint of Simon & Schuster — announced it will be releasing "A Shore Thing," the debut novel (yes, novel) from Polizzi, the pint-size star of MTV's hit series.
According to a press release, the book, scheduled for publication in January, tells the story of "a girl looking for love on the boardwalk (one full of big hair, dark tans and fights galore)."
And though that sounds an awful lot like the basic premise behind most episodes of "Jersey Shore," Polizzi says the novel has actually been in the works for a while now.
"I'm pumped to announce to my fans a project that I've been working on for some time," she said in a statement. "This book will have you falling in love at the shore. It's 'A Shore Thing!' "
It "shore" sounds that way. Gallery Books VP Jennifer Bergstrom describes the book as "a fun, sexy novel about a single girl looking for love on the Jersey Shore."
And while there's no word if "A Shore Thing" — which is still the tentative title, according to the press release — will include any mention of Polizzi's recent run-in with the law (she was arrested for disorderly conduct in June) or her Twitter war with Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Cory Booker, if the folks at Gallery are looking to add a little drama to the book, they won't have to look very far.
