Tiesto Wants Fans To Film His Next Video

The Dutch super-DJ has teamed with memory card maker SanDisk to distribute new music and allow fans to shoot a crowd-sourced clip.

On any given day, Tiësto, can be found rousing crowds of tens of thousands in places many ordinary folks only dream of escaping to: On Tuesday, he performed in Tunisia and later this month he'll be in Macedonia. And then, of course, every week he travels to the tropical paradise of Ibiza, in Spain, for his residency at Privilege. But the Dutch dance music superstar is particularly excited about another recent gig, at Victoria Park in London, which kicked off a musical partnership with flash memory card maker SanDisk.

"I'm partnering with SanDisk on a new way to distribute my music," Tiësto told MTV News.

In addition to sponsoring his concert series, the company is teaming up with the producer to deliver new music ("I made five exclusive tracks for them") and user-generated music videos. Fans can purchase SanDisk microSD mobile memory cards at WakeUpYourPhone.com to download the music.

The five original songs are part of a virtual CD mix titled What's Next and will range in flavor from soothing (like his "Kaleidoscope") to the typical hair-raising Tiësto club thumper, in the vain of his current hit collab with Diplo, "C'mon."

"The most popular one is the one I did with a singer from Toronto, Ontario; her name is Kay. It's called 'Work Hard, Play Hard.' That's been getting the best feedback so far, and I think she's a very talented girl who's gonna be big in the next two years. So it's great that we spotted her now and got to work with her."

Tiësto is also inviting fans to channel their inner-Hype Williams, encouraging audiences at each of his sponsored dates to record cell-phone video footage during performances of songs from What's Next, with future plans to make an actual crowd-sourced music video for one of the songs from the virtual CD.

"When you come to the show you can shoot your own video and upload it to the website, and SanDisk and I are gonna make a video compilation out of that together. With the Ultra video [his clip for 'C'mon', made up of sweeping crane-camera footage of his performance at Ultra Music Fest this year], you see massive crowds. Now, you will actually be in the crowd! Maybe you'll see your best friend in the video. Who knows? Maybe your hot girlfriend on the right? Everything is possible with the audience filming for the video!"

Tiësto plans to personally select his favorite user-generated shots from fan submissions and work with a notable music video director to complete the clip this fall. The Tiësto/SanDisk series of tour dates continues in Europe. Crossover dance-music star David Guetta recently joined him for a Berlin show. The tour heads to Abu Dhabi in October and wraps at the Los Angeles Convention Center on October 30.
