Lindsay Lohan Reports To Court For Jail Transfer

Actress handcuffed in court on Tuesday morning before being taken to detention center.

Following a 10-minute appearance in court on Tuesday (July 20), Lindsay Lohan was handcuffed and taken out of a Beverly Hills courtroom around 8:46 a.m. PT on her way to begin serving a [article id="1643969"]90-day jail sentence[/article].

Amid shouts of "Lindsay, I love you!" from a handful of supporters swarming the entrance to the courthouse, Lohan arrived nearly eight minutes late for the appearance, emerging from a black SUV and quickly walking through the gauntlet of fans, photographers and TV cameras on her way to the courtroom of Judge Marsha Revel.

Flanked by [article id="1643280"]attorney Shawn Chapman Holley[/article], Lohan -- wearing a black cropped jacket, a sleeveless green top, a black corset, tight jeans, black boots and dark sunglasses -- walked quickly through the camera line and was showered by confetti by one admirer.

Less than 24 hours after O.J. Simpson attorney [article id="1644012"]Robert Shapiro resigned[/article] from the case, Lohan was once again represented by Holley, who began the brief court appearance by noting that she had never officially stepped down. The "Mean Girls" actress looked tired and resigned as some procedural matters were discussed.

According to MSNBC, Lohan's estranged father, Michael, shouted out, "I love you Lindsay!" as his daughter was taken away. The judge reminded reporters that there were to be no pictures of Lohan being cuffed or taken to jail. Despite the drama, the actress kept her composure and did not break down.

Revel noted that there would be no house arrest, electronic monitoring, work release or furlough for Lohan, though she admitted that even she was not exactly sure of how many days the star would serve in the jail. Though sentenced to 90 days at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, because of severe overcrowding, Lohan is not expected to serve more than 25 percent of her time. That means she could be out in 23 days, at which point she will be transferred to a 90-day inpatient rehab program as part of her sentence.

On Monday evening, Lohan sent what could be her final tweet before being locked up: "The only 'bookings' that I'm familiar with are Disney films, never thought that I'd be 'booking' into jail ... eeeks."

People.com, quoting anonymous sources close to the 24-year-old actress, said [article id="1644013"]Lohan had a rough weekend at the Pickford Lofts[/article] sober-living facility, where she checked in last week. "It's been a rough weekend," the source said. "She has not been able to sleep and has barely been eating. All weekend, Lindsay kept crying, chain smoking and chewing her nails."
