Rapper [artist id="611"]Fat Joe[/artist] (born Joseph Cartagena) was questioned by police in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday after a woman claimed she was sexually assaulted in the rapper's limousine on Sunday night.
According to TMZ, police are still investigating the claims made by a local 33-year-old woman who called police around 12:46 a.m. on Monday to report the alleged incident. Joe was in town on Sunday night to perform a gig at the Orpheum Theater. The woman claimed that after the concert, she was invited to ride in the rapper's Cadillac limousine with his entourage on the way to their local hotel.
She claimed that at some point during the ride she was sexually assaulted in a manner that, according to Allhiphop.com, a police officer described as "inappropriate touching." Joe was detained for questioning along with other unidentified members of his crew but was not arrested, and he was released early Monday morning. No arrests have been made so far in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
Joe recently held a listening party in New York for his new album, The Darkside Vol. 1, which is due July 27. The album, which he said will remind fans of his greatness, features guest spots from the Clipse, Cam'ron, Young Jeezy, Trey Songz, Rico Love, R. Kelly, Too Short and Lil Wayne.
Joe enlisted a thick roster of producers for the album, including Scoop DeVille, Cool and Dre, Infamous, Raw Uncut, Street Runner, Scram Jones, and Just Blaze, who helmed the "I Am Crack" track, which finds Joey Crack rapping from the perspective of rock cocaine.
A spokesperson for Joe could not be reached for comment on the allegations at press time.
