‘Iron Man 2′ Star Gwyneth Paltrow Clears Up Dominatrix Rumors

'That would have been so fun!' actress tells MTV News of a scandalous scene involving Pepper Potts and Tony Stark.

Where do the tabloids come up with some of their stories? Last May, British paper the Daily Mail ran a story claiming Gwyneth Paltrow had been hitting the gym in preparation for a risqué scene as Pepper Potts in [artist id="390378"]“Iron Man 2.”[/artist]

“Iron Man imagines Pepper in a dominatrix outfit,” an unnamed source told the tabloid. “Gwyneth had to be filmed in a very revealing black leather corset complete with a bullwhip.”

Headlines blaring the words “dominatrix” and “Gwyneth” popped up all over the Web. Fast-forward a year to a screening of the movie, and whaddya know? No dominatrix scene in “Iron Man 2.” So was the purported scene left on the cutting-room floor, or was the whole thing a figment of a tabloid reporter’s imagination?

“[There was] no dominatrix [scene],” Paltrow told MTV News, before adding with a laugh, “Not on film.”

Nor was she entirely opposed to the idea of slipping into a black leather corset. “That would have been so fun!” she said.

When MTV News recently visited the “Iron Man 2″ set, franchise director Jon Favreau shed light on the much-talked-about movie moment: “Oh, wow,” he grinned. “There was some talk of [Stark] having a dream where he was fantasizing about her,” Favreau explained. “So there is some truth to that one. But it never made it into the movie, no.”

Paltrow also helped us out with some rumor control related to another “Iron Man 2″ suit. Some early gossip suggested that Potts, with an engineering assist from Tony Stark, might don a metallic suit of her own. This bit of hearsay wasn’t so hard to believe, as Potts had suited up as Rescue in the “Invincible Iron Man” comic book series. Alas, no such scene was shot for “Iron Man 2.”

“No, that didn’t happen either,” she said. “But that could have been interesting.”

Interesting, yes. Comfortable, no. “It’s a little cumbersome,” she pointed out.
