As quickly as Tony Stark can build Iron Man suits of armor, it seems there are new enemies popping up to do battle with him. It's a plight the director of the "Iron Man" franchise can easily sympathize with, since every time Jon Favreau knocks down a rumor, another one seems to pop up.
Now, before the year's most anticipated sequel flies into theaters, we caught up with the actor/writer/director to get the superhero scoop on multiple issues. And the first of them was something so intriguing, so sexy and so out-of-left-field that it had to be bogus, right? Seriously, could Gwyneth Paltrow have nearly appeared in a scene where she was going to wear a dominatrix Iron Man costume and do nasty things to Tony Stark?
"Oh, wow," Favreau grinned at the mere mention of the movie moment. Sure enough, when MTV News visited the "Iron Man 2" set, we glimpsed concept art of Gwyneth in a tight red-and-yellow outfit, sexily soaring above the ground. But according to Favs, the idea never went beyond that concept phase.
"There was some talk of [Stark] having a dream where he was fantasizing about her," Favreau explained. "So there is some truth to that one. But it never made it into the movie, no."
With comics-inspired films, it sometimes seems that the crazier the rumor the better. Sure enough, after years of searching for Stan Lee, Nick Fury and Robert Downey Jr. in "The Incredible Hulk" and other cameos, some overzealous fans were convinced that they'd found Thor in an international "Iron Man 2" clip leaked months ago. When MTV News spoke with Marvel honcho Kevin Feige, he laughed at such a blink-and-you'd-miss-it moment being a cinematic debut for their 2011 superstar. When we asked Favreau about it, he echoed those statements.
"Yes, I was quite pleased with that one," Favreau laughed, remembering the Internet furor when fans became convinced they had "found" the Norse God as if he were in a "Where's Waldo?" book. "No, that's not Thor."
