Ludacris is riding high off the success of his seventh album, Battle of the Sexes, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart. The concept album, however, is just one in a slate of projects he's readying for release this year.
"Details are sketchy, but [my next album], it's called Ludaversal," he told HoneyMag.com for the cover of their March issue. "You'll probably have it at the end of 2010 or somewhere at the beginning of 2011."
Luda and his Disturbing Tha Peace contingent are celebrating their 10-year anniversary this year, and he told MTV News recently that the benchmark has recharged him. In 2000, he broke on the scene powered by "What's Your Fantasy?" the breakout hit from his major-label debut, Back For the First Time.
"To me, marking 10 years in the game, it feels like we're starting all over again," he said. "I'm just as hungry as the first day."
A lot has changed for the rapper since his days as an Atlanta radio jock. In addition to rapping and acting, he also wears the CEO hat for his Disturbing Tha Peace label, distributed by Def Jam. He said recent signee and former Lil Jon protégé Lil Scrappy should be one of the next DTP crew members to put out a project.
"We got Lil Scrappy about to drop something soon, we got Playaz Circle, of course, we got Lil Fate, I-20, and we're working on a lot of new artists that we're gonna unleash on the industry very soon," he said. "So we got some things in the works. Look for some stuff."
