'NCIS: Los Angeles' Star Chris O'Donnell Plays LL Cool J For His Kids

'They get pretty fired up,' he says of his kids' reactions to his co-star's tunes.

Week after week, [movieperson id="47086"]Chris O'Donnell[/movieperson] and LL Cool J fight crime on their hit CBS show "NCIS: Los Angeles," but in O'Donnell's off time he's actually a big fan of his co-star's music. In fact, O'Donnell's five kids are also fans of Uncle L's rhymes, even if they aren't always family-friendly.

" 'Going Back to Cali' was kind of always my favorite, and 'Mama Said Knock You Out,' " O'Donnell said. "It's kind of funny — I play it now for my kids they get pretty fired up, but as LL has reminded me, 'You'd better be damn sure which one of my songs you're playing for your kids, 'cause they're definitely not all appropriate.' "

It's a lesson O'Donnell learned recently as he was listening closely to the lyrics of some classic Cool J tunes. "I was downloading one of his greatest hits and I just know the songs that I always heard," he explained. "We're just kind of rolling through the songs. I went back [and I listened to them again] and I was like, 'Thanks for the advice.' "

On the show, the pair play federal agents working in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in L.A. and O'Donnell told us there are times they each take turns playing good cop or bad cop, depending on what the situation requires. "I'd say we play whatever role needs to be taken," he joked. "Just back and forth."
