Daniel Radcliffe Says Tests For 'Deathly Hallows' Epilogue Look 'Rather Good'

'We want to make sure that it's flattering and we don't look like 60-year-olds,' co-star Tom Felton adds about preparations for the final 'Harry Potter' film.

As late as last December, Daniel Radcliffe and his "Harry Potter" co-stars were unsure if they'd be recruited, via some fancy CG effects, to play their older selves in J.K. Rowling's famous "Deathly Hallows" epilogue that flashes two decades into the future to capture what happens to the key characters. Though director David Yates had stated his preference to use a "Curious Case of Benjamin Button"-esque technique on his stars rather than hire older actors, it remained to be seen if the filmmakers could make such performances work.

It now seems like it will in fact work, according to Radcliffe. "We have done a few tests, and it does look really, really rather good," he told MTV News recently.

That info jibes with what Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy, told us last month. "Daniel and I have been talking about it for ages and we are excited to see what we look like 19 years later," he said. "We want to make sure that it's flattering and we don't look like 60-year-olds."

Radcliffe also talked openly about another aspect of the epilogue — namely who will play his daughter, Lily Potter, one of three children Harry and wife Ginny (Bonnie Wright) have in the future.

"The one thing I will say is my daughter is hopefully going to be played by the daughter of Amanda Knight, who is the head of the makeup department," Radcliffe said. "She was born a week before I got the part and is now 9. So it's the kind of physical embodiment of how long we've been there."

So when is this much-discussed flash-forward going to be shot? The two parts of "Deathly Hallows" are set to finish up this summer. "Jamie Christopher, the first [assistant director], was always really keen to do that as the final scene, because it's such a poignant moment for the franchise," Felton said.
