Rihanna Says 'I'm Single,' Performs Two Songs On 'Ellen'

The star sang 'Don't Stop the Music' and new single 'Hard' on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show.'

A cheery and playful [artist id="1940303"]Rihanna[/artist] appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Monday (February 1) to kick off the talk-show host's Grammy Week, which is set to feature a number of big names in music.

The "Umbrella" star served as the bookend of the show, opening with "Don't Stop the Music" and closing things out with her latest hit "Hard."

Rihanna sashayed onstage in black military-style boots and a black minidress adorned with colorful pieces of fabric twisted into spirals. Ellen looked on with a big smile and sported a pair of thigh-high black patent leather boots in honor of her musical guest.

Rihanna ran up and down the aisles into the audience, doling out high-fives to girls and dancing with the guys. In between her performances, Rihanna sat down with Ellen and dished on her latest tattoo, the correct pronunciation of her name and dating.

"I'm single," Rihanna told Ellen, giggling, despite photos of her and baseball player Matt Kemp appearing online.

The host let Rihanna off the hook easy, though, after a playful, quick follow-up about Kemp went unanswered. Rihanna was equally playful, but more so with one of Ellen's cameramen.

"Don't get too close up on me, camera guy — I see you over there," Rihanna joked as she pulled her shirt back to show Ellen her latest tattoo — the words "Never a failure, always a lesson" written backward on her chest to be seen correctly when looking in a mirror.

The two then talked about how to properly say the Barbados native's name. Rihanna said her accent probably confused people, but she doesn't mind fans who overly stress the ending one way or another — much to Ellen's chagrin, who said she should want people to say her name properly.

Rihanna then finished the proceedings off with another performance. Sporting a ruffled black dress and midnight-blue conductor hat, Rihanna returned to the stage for "Hard."
