The A-listers turned out for the Golden Globes on Sunday, and the night’s fashion was dominated by retro-theme glamour and sophistication. While the ladies went for sparkle and shine, the gentlemen kept it old-school in classic tuxedos.
Olivia Wilde kicked off the night in a high ponytail and shimmering low-cut black Gucci dress, completing the look with smoky eyes, drop earrings and a big bangle. Perhaps taking notes from last year’s show , “Glee” star Lea Michele looked similar to Amy Adams in 2009 in her Oscar De La Renta strapless black gown with sweetheart neckline.
Emily Blunt wore minimal makeup and kept her hair loose; her light pink strapless gown dazzled with its floaty skirt. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s gown was a similar color, but with origami detailing on the neckline. Kate Hudson’s heavily architectural white gown also had origami detailing.
Drew Barrymore had a bit of a Lady Gaga moment, dazzling the red carpet with her unique nude-color gown embellished with sequins and spikes on the hip and shoulder. “True Blood” star Anna Paquin seemed to be channeling Beyoncé in her sparking gold low-cut gown with a high slit in the front.
“Up in the Air” star Anna Kendrick’s look included a one-shouldered white-and-silver sparkly gown with an embellished tiered neckline, while [artist id="976"]Mariah Carey[/artist] left very little to the imagination in her very low-cut black gown.
The men seemed to be split into two camps: Team Tie and Team Bow Tie. On team tie was “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford and “Avatar” star Sam Worthington, while Taylor Lautner, George Clooney and “True Blood’s” Alexander Skarsgård represented the latter.
But the night’s host, Ricky Gervais, wore neither tie nor bow tie on the carpet, and Mickey Rourke followed suit, accessorizing his look instead with a cowboy hat.
