Robert Pattinson Regrets Jokingly Telling A Fan To Undress

'I never felt more terrible,' actor says in segment from 'Ellen' airing Friday.

The thought of being asked to undress by [movieperson id="365131"]Robert Pattinson[/movieperson] has probably crossed a few Twilighters' minds. And while the actor seems very shy about that kind of stuff, there was one time where he decided to go there — as a joke, of course.

"It was after a period of signing 500 signatures, and one of [the fans] just came up. You kind of get 10 seconds with each person and you never really say anything, and I kind of got bored of saying, 'Hey, how are you doing?' And she said, in her 10 seconds, 'What can I do to get your attention?' " he remembered in a segment from "Ellen" that's scheduled to air Friday. "I was like, 'Um, just take your clothes off.' "

Not really expecting the fan to comply, Pattinson watched what unfolded in horror. "And she stood there and frantically started taking her clothes off and got dragged out of the room by security," he said. "I never felt more terrible."

Pattinson may have been kidding around when he asked that fan to undress, but he's still on the fence about going au naturel for a flick himself. "Ah ... maybe, I don't know. Maybe," he said. "It's definitely a risk."

The actor, who recently admitted that he doesn't get why he's so sexy, is shirtless in [movie id="414921"]"New Moon."[/movie] Maybe that will be enough to prompt him to get a little bit gutsier in his next flick.

"I did then [have a good body]. I saw an interview the other day with a fictitious quote saying that I was proud of my abs," he told DeGeneres. "I was like, 'I would never say that in an interview,' and I actually saw the film yesterday and I was like, 'Yeah. This is the first time I've ever been proud my physical appearance in my entire life.' "

Pattinson is also currently trying to purchase a home that would be his sanctuary from the spotlight, but he's having a hard time with it.

"You know, I was saying earlier, I really want to try and get a house. It's very, very difficult," he explained. "I always think, just the actual process of looking for a house — if [paparazzi's] following you it defeats the entire purpose of trying to find a secret house. ... I'm absolutely awful at it."
