MTV's 'New Moon Revealed' Asks: Team Edward Or Team Jacob?

Monday's special went straight to the 'Twilight Saga' stars and books to get some answers.

Team Edward or Team Jacob?

How you answer that question says a lot about you — but it says even more about your eventual soul mate. Are you inclined to choose the tall, handsome man who hides his mysteries on the other side of the room but could potentially give you a life of romance that few achieve? Or would you prefer to take the safe way out, and go for the puppy-love-wielding best friend who pledges eternal love — and you have no doubt he'll deliver it?

The "Twilight Saga" stars answered that tough question during MTV's "New Moon Revealed," which aired Monday night.

Kristen Stewart admitted that after much soul-searching, she's decided to join Team Edward. It's a reversal from an earlier statement she had made claiming that Taylor Lautner's work as her Quileute admirer had won her over. "Read into this," she once famously smiled, putting her arms around Lautner.

"I think the whole point of the story is that there isn't a wrong choice," Stewart explained to us. "I go back and forth from being Team Edward to Team Jacob all the time. ... Put in that position, I would have to go with Edward, because I really appreciate following your gut instinct, even though it's not necessarily the right thing to do."

Stewart's indecision is understandable. Heck, it took Bella Swan four books and a couple thousand words of anguished text to figure it out. In passages like this, Bella explained her dilemma:

"Would it be so wrong to try to make Jacob happy? Even if the love I felt for him was no more than a weak echo of what I was capable of, even if my heart was far away, wandering and grieving after my fickle Romeo, would it be so very wrong?"

Meanwhile, we have Taylor Lautner — who, by all accounts, is one of the nicest young actors working in Hollywood. That's why he fits the tattered pants of Jacob so well, uttering nice-guys-finish-last sentences like:

"Yeah, I'll always be your friend. No matter what you love."

To be without Bella would certainly leave Jacob in a state of disrepair. But on the other hand, anything less than her complete love would render Edward unable to carry on:

"I thought I explained it clearly before. Bella, I can't live in a world where you don't exist."

At the end of the day, Twilighters know how all this will end. And Bella's ultimate feeling can be summed up in nine simple words she once uttered to Edward:

"I'd rather die than be with anyone but you."

As for Stewart's co-stars Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, the good friends are divided on the issue.

"I definitely think she'd go for a guy who would be like 'C'mon, go out with me!' all the time," grinned Lutz, saying Bella should choose Jacob. "Any girl, I would think, would be. That's why reading the books are kind of strange. Edward doesn't want Bella to be [in love with him]."

"No, girls wouldn't want that; they want what they can't have," Greene argued. "That's why you don't have a girlfriend."

"That's why I stay single, I guess," Lutz shrugged. "I'm too naggy."
