Can Kanye West Recover From The Post-VMA Backlash?

Will jumping onstage during Taylor Swift's speech hurt 'Ye's career? We discuss it in Off the Dome.

"Everybody feels a way about 'Ye, but at least you feel something." Well, if nothing else, Kanye West will probably be the most talked-about person at any awards show he attends.

As the entire world knows by now, Kanye jumped onstage and grabbed the mic from Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video. 'Ye was livid that Beyoncé did not win the award and felt he needed to get up there and speak his mind.

Thousands upon thousands wrote to us and left comments on the site — and most people did not support Kanye's actions.

Reader Model4fashion wrote, "What an a--hole. Every time there is a big event the cry baby has to make a scene to highlight himself at all costs, then he runs away and apologizes electronically. Loser! I'm so done with his music, he has lost my support all together. There is nothing he can do for me to like him! Big ups to Beyoncé for being real and professional ... maybe she should show cry baby the ropes, which the first lesson in life is shut your mouth!"

During the show, performer Katy Perry took to Twitter and posted my personal nominee for tweet of the year thus far: "'F--- you Kanye. It's like you stepped on a kitten."

Did Kanye go too far this time? And if so, can he recover? Well, my feelings on the matter are that Kanye shouldn't have gotten on the stage. He agrees, though, and apologized on his Web site. However, that forum might have been the best place to express his displeasure with Beyoncé's loss — that's what it really was about. Not so much about Taylor Swift winning, but Beyoncé losing. Rahman Dukes and I feel he'll definitely recover from this.

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards might have wrapped, but the party is far from over. Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes updates, party reports and much more.
