2009 VMAs In 60 Seconds: Relive Janet's Tribute, Lady Gaga's Gore And More

MTV News' Jim Cantiello condenses the night's biggest moments into one short minute.

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards were a lot of things — predictable wasn't one of them.

From Madonna's surprise appearance and Kanye West's onstage antics to Lady Gaga's, uh, "gushing" performance and Beyoncé's beyond-kind gesture (and about a million other moments — the "New Moon" trailer! Pink's acrobatics! Janet Jackson's tribute to her late brother!), there was plenty to react to during last night's show.

Whether you were walking the red carpet, wandering the backstage corridors of Radio City Music Hall, sitting in the audience or watching from home, you couldn't believe what you were seeing (or hearing) at least once Sunday night.

MTV News' Jim Cantiello managed to be in all of those places (except your home, because, well, that would be sort of creepy), and he had the same reactions you did: He laughed, he cried, he screamed, he got to interview Taylor Swift. And when the show wrapped, he headed back to MTV headquarters to film his VMA recap as only he can: really fast (like, under 60 seconds).

And now, after a long night of editing, we're finally done with it. So for your viewing pleasure (and in case you missed a second of the action) here it is: the 2009 VMAs in 60 seconds. And if you think there's anything Jim missed, let us know about it in the comments below.

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards might have wrapped, but the party is far from over. Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes updates, party reports and much more.
