She's already conquered the very different cities of Hollywood and Forks. On Sunday night (September 13), Ashley Greene turned her "liquid topaz" vampire eyes toward a different realm: the runway fashions of cities like Paris, Milan and NYC — home of the 2009 Video Music Awards. Working as [article id="1620994"]MTV's special celebrity fashion correspondent[/article], the "Twilight" beauty turned heads herself in several gorgeous outfits, then sunk her teeth into the best- and worst-dressed A-listers of the evening.
"The perfect VMA outfit is usually something edgy, eye-catching ... something out there a bit," Greene said of what she'd be looking for on the star-packed red carpet. "The VMAs is a place where you can let go and be crazy."
One of Alice Cullen's favorite outfits of the night was — no surprise — a Calvin Klein suit worn by Taylor Lautner; as shocking as it may have been to see Jacob Black with his shirt on, Ashley said the suit was well worth covering up his hard-earned six-pack. "I am a fan. I'm a Calvin Klein fan," she told Taylor. "You're going on the best-dressed list, for sure."
[article id="1621385"]Pink might have arrived in style[/article] on the back of an NYC fire truck, but the only VMA transportation choice that might have been more desirable was Ashley's flight in, sitting alongside Lautner and friends/co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. "We rode on the plane together," Greene revealed. "And they wished me luck."
As [article id="1621066"]Taylor Swift mentioned[/article] to Tim Kash, she called Ashley before the VMAs to give her some advice on the gig — but judging by her composure during the live show, the "Twilight" star hardly needed it. "You look amazing," Ashley said to Jennifer Lopez. "I think it's safe to call you a fashion icon, you've made so many statements. ... You look amazing tonight!"
At various points in the evening, Greene herself wore a black silk top with a cranberry skirt and pinstriped tights; a gold skirt, ruffled black top and zebra shoes; and even rocked an Amy Winehouse-esque beehive. But like any good reporter, she always kept the attention on her subjects.
"You look beautiful," Ashley said when meeting up with good friend and "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester. "You look incredible. I thought you were going to be on the best-dressed list, and I'm sure that you are." As Ashley threw back to Sway, a supportive Meester could be overheard echoing our thoughts as she told Greene: "That was goooood!"
The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards are live now! Stay tuned for the night's big winners, red-carpet coverage, behind-the-scenes updates and more.
