Dane Cook isn't going to apologize for poking fun at Vanessa Hudgens at the Teen Choice Awards over her two nude-photo scandals. Although the joke was cut out of the broadcast, which aired Monday after being taped Sunday in Los Angeles, the comedian said he'll "take the hit" for any criticism.
"Girl, you gots to keep your clothes on! Phones are for phone calls, girl," Cook told the "High School Musical" star, who didn't seem very amused, at the awards show.
"Mostly I just wanted it to be funny," the comedian told "Access Hollywood." "That's the best part about being a comic, when you go, 'Maybe I can say the thing that everybody is kind of feeling and nobody [is saying].' The elephant-in-the-room moment. So, I'll take it, I'll take the hit. It's OK."
Cook, who hosted the show in 2006, added that he decided to address "the elephant in the room" only minutes before he presented Robert Pattinson and Megan Fox with Choice Hotties awards.
"I planned it about 20 minutes before I went out there," Cook added. "Because I like to be on the cusp of fear."
Cook admits that, like the fans of the Teen Choice Awards, his fans are also young, but he offered no real apology for joking on Hudgens.
"My fans are very young as well, and everybody's very opinionated," he said. "You gotta keep it classy."
