'Gossip Girl' Stars Reflect On 'Electric' Teen Choice Awards

'It's warm and welcoming, and everyone's screaming,' Leighton Meester says of awards show's high-energy crowd.

On "Gossip Girl," Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick play star-crossed lovers Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass, battling for supremacy in the game of love. But in real life, the co-stars and occasional musicians are two very grateful actors after their Teen Choice Awards wins Sunday night.

"You black right out. I don't remember a thing," Meester told MTV News backstage at the awards show, where she won for Choice TV Actress: Drama and "Gossip Girl" took home Choice TV Show: Drama. "No, you know what the good thing is? I forgot my contacts at home, so I'm blind right now."

After moving on from the topic of her blindness, Meester reflected on the vibe of this year's Teen Choice show "It's nice. It's warm and welcoming, and everyone's screaming," she said. "It's very alive. It's cool."

Westwick was also backstage celebrating the show's big win and said being there and seeing how much everyone loves the show is "very surreal." "I was presenting as well," he told us. "So you're backstage, and then all of a sudden, you kind of just walk out and you're into it."

Westwick agreed that the vibe in the room was very "electric" and that winning the award was "a great feeling." "The energy is incredible," he gushed.
