Taylor Lautner Won't Be Using Teen Choice Award To Surf

'I'm not the best surfer,' 'Twilight' star and Fresh Face Male winner admits.

Sure, he picked up a surfboard at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles, but that doesn't mean that Fresh Face Male winner [movieperson id="373803"]Taylor Lautner[/movieperson] will be using the unusual trophy recreationally.

"I'm not the best surfer," the "Twilight" star told MTV News on the red carpet before the show, which airs Monday night (August 10). "So [surfing with it] might not be a good idea. Yeah, I got to practice for that."

Lautner, who looked dashing and relaxed in tight-fitting gray jeans, vest and tie, could barely contain his excitement about attending his first TCA.

"I mean, it's great. This is my first time to the Teen Choice, actually, so it's really exciting and it's an honor to be nominated," he said. "And it's hot so we didn't have to wear any super-fancy clothing, so it's really good."

Lautner also joined his castmates onstage when "Twilight" won the Choice Movie: Drama category, one of many awards bestowed on the film during the show.

Now that he has a surfboard to call his own, he'd better start figuring out just where he's going to put it. "I'm probably going to pin it up in my room," he said on the red carpet, adding that if he won "it'd be crazy."

Well, Lautner, you'd better start making room on your wall.

The Teen Choice Awards air Monday, August 10, at 8:00 p.m. ET on Fox.
