LOS ANGELES — Watch your back, Spectacular. "American Idol" finalist Anoop Desai has perfected the bump-and-grind, and he's not afraid to show it off.
"You gotta put your chest out first, and then roll," Anoop demonstrated to MTV News at the recent American Idols Live! tour stop in L.A. "It's funny, because I actually think of this stuff," he laughed.
Anoop is putting those skills — as well as his vocal chops — to good use during his three-song set on the tour, which runs the gamut from Elvis Presley's version of "Always on My Mind" to a raunchy (for "Idol") "My Prerogative" that would make Bobby Brown proud.
Although he's got the [artist id="10489"]R. Kelly[/artist] stage antics down (and the ladies are noticing — see what some Idols Live! concertgoers had to say), Anoop wants his fans to know that there won't be any (alleged) sex tapes anytime soon. "I'm not peeing on anyone," Desai joked.
Throughout his "Idol" journey, 'Noop Dogg indicated that he wanted to pursue an R&B career once the show wrapped up. And he's thrilled that he gets the chance to flex his R&B muscles without the constraints of the "Idol" theme weeks. "If you wanna check out what we're doing after 'Idol,' then come on out to the tour," Anoop said.
But don't let the suggestive dance moves fool you: It's unlikely you'll find him looking to join Pretty Ricky anytime soon.
"My style is more reserved, refined. I really like Chrisette Michele right now, I love [artist id="2002414"]Ne-Yo[/artist], as I've said a lot. But that's more the style I wanna go to. More the neo-soul vibe, but definitely pop music," Anoop said.
