Beefs with Lou Diamond Phillips and Al Roker, specious allegations of torture, bouts of intestinal disease, nights in spider-infested lockdown rooms, the ridicule of the mainstream media. Nothing can keep Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt down. And like a nasty case of jungle rot, the media-savvy couple just keep coming back in the most unexpected places.
Spencer told MTV News earlier this week that despite the pair's tumultuous time in the Costa Rican jungle on "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!" — and his LDP beef — he'd be up for going back to for a fourth go. Well, a production source on "Celebrity" has confirmed to MTV News that the Pratts have booked a ticket to return to the show for the June 24 finale.
"I actually was just letting NBC know that I am ready to go back," Spencer told MTV News earlier this week. "We tried to go back, but the cast said they would mutiny if we showed up!"
Spencer also said he'd consider another go-round next season, if producers were interested. "For season two of 'I'm a Celebrity,' I'm back," he said. "I'm ready. I got a whole new attitude about it."
Following their third leave-taking on June 8, reportedly due to Heidi's gastric ulcer, the pair seemed done with the show for good. But considering the attention they've been getting since returning, and the likely ratings bump the show has gotten due to their participation, it makes sense that they're going to rejoin the cast at the end of the month.
"We tried to go back," Heidi told "Access Hollywood" on Thursday. "I was really sick, and we wanted to try to go back for the charity and finish it, but my doctor said I couldn't, and the show didn't want to have us back for my health risk."
Heidi said her illness was definitely not faked for the camera. "It was one of the worst experiences of my life," she told "Access Hollywood." "The doctor was telling me it was an emergency, that it was a life-threatening health risk. I was throwing up 10 to 20 times the first night and the second day. Honestly, at one point I was like, maybe this is it."
On Thursday's show, Heidi's sister, Holly Montag, who Speidi thought would win the whole contest, was voted off the show along with Janice Dickinson.
A spokesperson for the show could not be reached for comment at press time.
