[artist id="1962774"]Katy Perry[/artist] graces the cover of the latest Complex magazine, and inside the pop rocker ditches her trademark bright attire — you know, the whole fruit thing — for a much racier, sexier look.
"It's a bit of a darker side of me, a little S&M," Perry told the mag for their June/July issue. "Though I did have to hang from a cage, which could have easily gone wrong with the 5-inch heels I was wearing."
The nine-photo spread features Perry not only caged, but sporting a revealing black corset, skintight leggings and impossibly high heels. The look may be a move to match the "I Kissed a Girl" siren's new musical direction. Perry told the magazine that her debut, One of the Boys, was recorded when she was between 17 and 23. Now 25, Perry says her next project will be more mature.
Last month she spoke with MTV News and [article id="1608928"]discussed her sophomore project[/article].
"I definitely want to make a follow-up pop, fun record. I'm not looking to alienate my fans, but I can't be that grown-up Shirley Temple girl wearing the stupid strawberry in her hair all the time ... because I'd kill myself or someone else would for me," Perry laughed. "So I'm really excited to always be evolving, and changing; with my look, with my music — it keeps me entertained as well.
"[Boys] was like my 'dear diary' album, from when I was, like, 17 to 23," Perry added. "It was my perspective then, and it was so widespread, and some of the things that really meant a lot to me at 17, you know, they change. They evolve. So this record will be a very present record for me. It will be me now. It won't take five years — hopefully. It will be Katy Perry as a young, 25-year-old woman."
