Country crossover sensation [artist id="2389485"]Taylor Swift[/artist] just landed herself a plumb cameo on the CBS crime drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," UsMagazine.com reports.
For many of us here at MTV News, this comes as no surprise. In November, Swift told us that she'd love to find herself on "CSI," and these days, it seems there is little out of reach for the chart-topping singer.
"I think, as far as branching out with acting, it would take something really right on the mark to distract me from music, because music is everything to me," she said at the time. "If it were 'CSI' or 'Grey's Anatomy' or a movie that was really, really smart, then I think I might venture off.
"I could be a crook," she proposed. "Hopefully one that's really twisted, that took, like, four episodes to figure out."
A "CSI" producer revealed to UsMagazine.com that they hired Swift for the show after hearing that she was a fan.
"Before Christmas we reached out to Taylor Swift because one of the CBS executives had told me, 'Taylor loves your show,' " "CSI" executive producer Carol Mendelsohn told UsMagazine.com. "So Taylor came in to meet with me right before the holidays, and we talked about the character."
Though she's currently scheduled for just one episode, it seems that "CSI" writers were listening to Swift's desire to play a "really twisted" character: She'll play "Haley Jones, a teenaged girl whose family runs a seedy Vegas motel," according to a press release. "Over the course of a year, Haley goes through a series of changes that have tragic consequences."
The script also calls for her to change physically, Mendelsohn explained. "I mean, clearly, your outward manifestation reflects the turmoil that's inside of you, and so it's really a very challenging role," she said.
The episode is set to air in late February or early March.
