Due to the tragic death of his son, Jett, the Globe-nominated 'Bolt' star won't be attending.

[movieperson id="63075"]John Travolta[/movieperson] will not be attending the Golden Globes, reports E! Online. The actor, whose 16-year-old son Jett died on January 2, had originally planned on attending the ceremony to support his film, "Bolt."

His rep Samantha Mast confirmed to E! that the actor will not be in attendance at Sunday's Golden Globes. His film "Bolt" is nominated for two Golden Globes including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for his duet with "Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus, "I Thought I Lost You."

Many people speculated that Travolta, along with his wife Kelly Preston, wouldn't attend the show after his son's passing last week in the Bahamas where. Earlier this week, it was reported that Jett died from a seizure at the family's vacation home, and on Thursday, the family held a memorial service for their son near their home in Florida.

The Travoltas released a statement shortly after Jett's death, thanking their fans for the support. "We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences," the statement read. "Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives."

Jett Travolta was rumored to suffer from autism and was diagnosed as a child with Kawasaki disease, which causes inflammation of the lymph nodes and can cause heart damage and inflamed blood vessels in young children. Preston previously told People magazine that Jett became very ill when he was 2 years old and was diagnosed with the disease, which she blamed on household cleaners and fertilizers. She said that a detoxification program based on teachings from the Church of Scientology — of which Travolta and Preston are among the most visible members — helped improve Jett's health.

The couple also have an 8-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.
