For the third year in a row, music fans can become a part of the Grammy Awards thanks to the “My Grammy Moment” contest. This year, the contest’s winners will perform with [artist id=”1962774″]Katy Perry[/artist] via their video submissions.
“I am very excited to be a first-time Grammy nominee and new Recording Academy member this year, and even more thrilled to perform on music’s biggest stage in February,” Perry said about the opportunity to perform with an aspiring musician.
“I’d love to share my first Grammy experience with all my fans, so I encourage you to submit your videos now!” added the singer, whose song is nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal performance. She’s up against Adele, Leona Lewis, Pink, Duffy and Sara Bareilles.
To enter, fans can upload 30-to-60-second videos of themselves singing of them singing Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl.” Fans will then vote on which three videos are the best, and the winners will be announced live during the Grammy broadcast. The winning videos will air during Perry’s performance on the show, and the grand-prize winner gets $5000.
The videos should be uploaded to cbs.com from Tuesday (January 6) through February 6.
In addition, viewers will select their favorite submissions to determine the Top Fan Video. Those who wish to be considered for both the live telecast and the CBS.com Top Fan Video Contest should submit and upload a video at www.cbs.com/grammys no later than January 22.
In past years, “My Grammy Moment” winners have had the opportunity to perform with artists like Justin Timberlake and Foo Fighters live during the show. However, this year, the winners will only get to perform virtually.
This year’s ceremony takes place on February 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will air on CBS.
