Newlyweds Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag phoned in to "The Hills: Live After Show" to confirm what MTV News exclusively reported last week: that "Hills" fans will get the chance to see the [news id="1600271"]couple's elopement on the show[/news]. "Of course. Everything is always on 'The Hills,' " the groom joked.
Spencer, who just returned from his honeymoon with Heidi, also talked about why he felt the moment was right to marry his longtime girlfriend while they were on vacation in Mexico: "I have been trying to marry Heidi for two and a half years now. It came out of nowhere. I was like, 'This was my shot.'
"We were chillin', having some nice Patrón margaritas on the rocks ... talking about how much we love each other," he added, "and I was like, 'Hey, there's a chapel in the neighborhood. Let's go do this!' "
Heidi recalled how emotional she got when the couple exchanged their vows. "Actually, I really started crying. My eyes just started tearing up. When you hear the love of your life just saying the most amazing, sweet things from his heart, I couldn't help it," she said. "It was the best moment in my life. It was so surreal. I couldn't believe that we were there. I just kept thinking, I love this man more than anything in the entire world."
Last week, in a [news id="1600306"]statement to the press[/news], Spencer said, "We had a beautiful ceremony here at One & Only Palmilla officiated by a minister and photographed by the hotel photographer. We've never been happier."
The wedding, which took place in Mexico, has had some in the media questioning the legality of the nuptials. But the groom insisted those will be taken care of in time: "Like other elopements that happen outside the country, we'll take care of the legal details when we get home."
