Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt Sign Up For 'How I Met Your Mother' Cameos

Britney Spears got a People's Choice Award nod for her role on the show.

Move over, Britney — it's Heidi and Spencer's turn to show off their acting chops on one of CBS' most beloved comedies.

According to UsMagazine.com, self-proclaimed Republican couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will briefly leave "The Hills" behind for a cameo on "How I Met Your Mother," in an episode that's set to air in January.

"Heidi and I are honored to be part of such a successful show," Pratt told the site. "I don't want to give anything away ... but I'm the mother."

According to a statement from CBS, the pair "will be playing magazine-cover versions of themselves as Marshall [played by 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' star Jason Segel] desperately searches for a place to 'read a magazine' while at the office. Montag and Pratt will taunt and tease Marshall from the confines of his current copy of Them Weekly."

The site claims that Montag and Pratt will be filming their scenes for the Neil Patrick Harris-starring show this week. "We can confirm that Heidi and Spencer will appear on the show, but we can't give away anything specific about the episode," co-creator and executive-producer Craig Thomas said. "All we can say is that they play themselves."

Montag and Pratt will be following in the footsteps of pop star Britney Spears, who appeared in two episodes last season as Abby, a spacey receptionist who falls for the show's main character, Ted Mosby, played by Josh Radnor. The role netted Spears a People's Choice Award nomination for Favorite Scene-Stealing Guest Star on Monday.
