'Gossip Girl' Star Taylor Momsen Hospitalized

She was released Wednesday following treatment for a 'potentially life-threatening throat infection,' her doctor tells MTV News.

"Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen was released Wednesday (October 22) from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after battling a "severe, potentially life-threatening throat infection."

"I have been treating Miss Taylor Momsen for the last few days," the 15-year-old actress' doctor, Shawn Nasseri, said in a statement to MTV News. "She has been hospitalized for a severe, potentially life-threatening throat infection since Sunday.

"She has been an excellent patient, and after aggressive antibiotics and medications, she is expected to make a full recovery in the next three to five days," her doctor added.

There's no word yet on when she is expected to return to work on the show.

Us Weekly reported that the actress, who films "Gossip Girl" in New York City, was in Los Angeles to take an exam for school when she "woke up with a sore throat."

After seeing a doctor, she found out it was more than just a sore throat. "She thought it was just a common cold, but was advised to see an ear, nose and throat specialist before getting on a plane back to New York," a source close to Momsen told the magazine.

The source also told the Web site that the actress' mom "flew out to get her [when she heard how sick she was] and is flying back [to NYC] with Taylor this week." Despite battling the infection, Momsen, who plays Jenny Humphrey on the hit CW show, "[is] in unbelievable spirits," the source added.
