Jamie Lynn Spears Gives Birth To Girl, Maddie Briann

Family was present for the birth of 17-year-old actress' child with fiance Casey Aldridge, People reports.

Jamie Lynn Spears gave birth on Thursday morning (June 19) to her and fiance Casey Aldridge's first child, a girl they named Maddie Briann, according to People magazine. The baby was born at 9:30 a.m. at a hospital in Mississippi near the 17-year-old actress' hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana.

OK! magazine quoted an unnamed rep for Spears as confirming that "both mom and baby are healthy and happy. ... They are surrounded by their close relatives, including Jamie Lynn's older sister Britney, mother Lynne, father Jamie and brother Bryan."

Us Magazine reported that the baby was born at Mississippi Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, Mississippi, and that she weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

The "Zoey 101" star announced she was expecting a baby in December and spent most of her pregnancy near her family's hometown, mostly avoiding the glare of the celebrity paparazzi as she prepared for the baby's birth by buying a three-bedroom home with Aldridge in Liberty, Mississippi, and getting her GED in February.

(The birth of the baby prompted a response from the Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.)

Spears and Aldridge got engaged in March but have not yet announced when they plan to marry. She has also not yet confirmed what her next career move will be, following the wrapping up of the "Zoey" saga earlier this year. She reportedly told OK! that she plans to devote all her time to the baby for now, putting the wedding and work on the backburner for the time being.

"Right now, I am so focused on the baby," she said. "You never know what may happen a year from now. There is the possibility I'll go back, but right now, I just want to be a good mom."
