Bill Clinton To Meet With College Journalists For New mtvU Series ‘Editorial Board’

Highlights from the event will be broadcast online Sunday; first episode premieres March 26.

Several top college reporters from around the country will receive unprecedented access to former President Bill Clinton as part of the inaugural episode of “Editorial Board,” a new series from mtvU that pits student scribes against the nation’s top policymakers and Washington wonks.

Clinton will sit down with four selected writers and editors — one each from the University of Southern California’s Daily Trojan, Howard University’s Hilltop, Smith College’s Sophian and Tulane University’s Hullabaloo — on Sunday in New Orleans as part of the Clinton Global Initiative University , a symposium that aims to make college-age voters more passionate about and accountable for the top issues of the day.

” ’Editorial Board’ will empower college students to advance the rich tradition of the editorial board meeting, fostering an intimate, candid discussion between tomorrow’s leaders and those making history today,” Stephen Friedman, mtvU general manager, said in a press release. “The series is part of our commitment to shining a national spotlight on top student talent — always serving up new, career-launching opportunities — and we’re honored to have President Clinton’s participation for the first of these groundbreaking forums.”

The reporters were chosen by mtvU to launch the series from the 550 online student newspapers in the College Media Network.

Student writers from the network are encouraged to submit questions, to be asked of President Clinton, in advance of the event. Highlights will be broadcast on mtvU.com late in the day on Sunday, while the full episode will air on mtvU on March 26.
