Lindsay Lohan Proclaims Innocence, Says Drugs Were 'Not Mine': Report

Jail time looks likely for troubled actress.

Following her second arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in two months, Lindsay Lohan proclaimed her innocence on Tuesday.

"I am innocent ... did not do drugs they're not mine," Lohan reportedly wrote in an erratically punctuated e-mail to "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush. Lohan, who police said was unable to walk a straight line or follow a flashlight when they approached her in the parking lot of the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in California shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, was found with a substance believed to be cocaine in the pocket of her jeans during her booking (see "Lindsay Lohan Arrested Again For DUI; Reportedly Checks Back Into Rehab").

Explaining the strange car chase involving the mother of a former assistant, Lohan added, "I was almost hit by my assistant Tarin's mom I appreciate everyone giving me my privacy."

Just days before the opening of her latest film, "I Know Who Killed Me," in which Lohan plays a stripper abducted by a serial killer, Lohan's career appears to be in jeopardy as she reportedly faces up to six years in prison on the drug possession and DUI charges, as well as a charge of driving under a suspended license. It is the latter charge that sent fellow troubled starlet Paris Hilton to jail for more than 20 days earlier this year (see "Paris Hilton Released From Jail"). While Lohan is unlikely to be given such a lengthy prison sentence, the combination of the back-to-back DUIs will more than likely land her some jail time.

"I would say this woman's going to be doing at least 30 days, and perhaps as long as 180 days if she is convicted of two DUIs along with drug possession," Lawrence Taylor, a former Los Angeles prosecutor who runs a DUI defense law firm, told MSNBC on Wednesday (July 25).

"She is in a world of hurt," Steven Cron, a criminal defense lawyer in Santa Monica, told ABC News. "Any judge is going to want to make sure she's off the streets for a while. I think she faces a substantial amount of jail time."

Lohan was forced to cancel a planned appearance on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Tuesday to promote "I Know Who Killed Me." Instead, comedian Rob Schneider appeared on the show and lampooned her recent problems, wearing a blond wig, hoop earrings, a black dress and a fake alcohol-monitoring anklet that was actually a flask from which he took a drink. Host Leno also mocked Lohan, cracking, "You know, we had Lindsay Lohan booked for our show tonight, but apparently she was already 'booked.' I thought our competition was 'Letterman' and 'Nightline,' but it turns out it's 'Cops' and 'America's Most Wanted.' "

Just a week ago, Lohan reportedly began taking tango lessons to prepare for the romantic film "Dare to Love Me," about an Argentinean tango dancer and the prostitute he falls in love with. The film was to begin shooting this summer, but now its fate is unclear.
