Ciara will go from choir girl to pop star onscreen in the upcoming movie “Mama, I Want to Sing!” Variety reports. She’ll co-star — with diva Patti LaBelle— as a preacher’s daughter whose music career takes off in the film, based on the long-running off-Broadway musical. The movie is scheduled to start shooting next month in Louisiana and is due in theaters in February. …

If you want to be the first to see “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” start booking a trip to Japan now. The fifth film in the Potter franchise will make its international premiere in Tokyo — as “Spider-Man 3″ did last month — on June 28, Reuters reports. The movie will premiere in London on July 3 and hits U.S. theaters July 13. …

When news of a Jessica Simpson/ John Mayer breakup broke last week, a source told People that it would probably be only temporary — a good call, if the couple’s Sunday dinner in New York was any indication. “All I know is that they like each other and saw each other,” one source told People. “Everyone’s waiting to see what’s going to happen.” …

There’s still no star in place, but the “Barbarella” remake does officially have a director tied up. Variety reports that Robert Rodriguez is on board to recreate the 1968 film (which starred Jane Fonda as the futuristic action hero). “I love this iconic character and all that she represents,” Rodriguez said. …

Action-Figure.com (via Blabbermouth) has a preview of a Lemmy Kilmister doll — sorry, action figure. The Motörhead frontman’s 6-inch likeness is due in November. …
