Late last night, Snoop Dogg gave us his take on radio host Don Imus' inflammatory comments about the Rutgers' women's basketball team — and made a distinction between rappers' use of "ho's" and Imus' "nappy-headed ho's" statement. "[Rappers] are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports," Snoop said. ...

Common reveals the roots of his upcoming album Finding Forever, explaining that he felt inspired to make new music and wanted to work with Kanye. Only Kanye was out of the country. So Common followed him to Spain, New Zealand and Australia. "I knew I couldn't just sit around lying back," he told us. ...

Swizz Beatz also has a new album on the way, which includes a sample of S.O.U.L. S.Y.S.T.E.M.'s "It's Gonna Be a Lovely Day." The producer — who estimates he's created "over-400 something songs" without sampling — told us that he's earned the right to lift a beat here and there. "I came in the game not sampling to separate myself from everyone else. ... I can sample now. " ...

And Halle Berry tells us she's aching to play Egyptian queen Nefertiti, but wants to have her "ducks in a row" before taking it on. "If you're going to do Nefertiti, it's gotta be big." ...

T.I.'s performance at a Duke University event on Saturday has organizers considering legal action, the Duke Chronicle reports. Representatives of the Duke University Union allege that T.I.'s set wasn't long enough. The best part of the Chronicle's chronicle? An interview with one student who gave openers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah the "nickname" Satan Said Dance. ...

"Who got voted off 'American Idol'?" — that's the top "Idol" question posed by Yahoo Web searchers, according to the browser's Buzz Log. Some tougher-to-answer queries also made the top-10 list, including "Is 'American Idol' getting old?" (#8) and "Why is 'American Idol' so popular?" (#10). In at #2: "Why is Sanjaya still on 'American Idol'?" — we're not sure, but Jennifer Lopez certainly seemed to like him on Tuesday night's show, and Simon said that his "Besame Mucho" performance "wasn't horrible." Microsoft Game Studios announced Tuesday that a test of "Halo 3" will be available beginning May 16 on Xbox Live. Reuters reports that the beta version of the game ends June 6, and will support online competition. ...

With interest in Anna Nicole Smith showing no sign of slowing down, Willa Ford has been cast as the late model/actress in the independent film "Anna Nicole," Variety reports. ... The trade paper also has news on a Jackson family reality show — which doesn't include Michael or Janet. Instead, Jermaine, Tito and LaToya are teaming up for "Pop Dynasty," an "American Idol"-inspired competition to discover a family of music superstars. ...

And the White Stripes have set a date: Icky Thump will be released in the U.S. on June 19, according to the band's Web site — which also posted a preview of the LP's cover art.
