Sunny Mabrey explains how the serpents got there; 'Impossible' star on a mission in NYC.

“Snakes on a Plane” has been generating a ton of buzz based on its title alone, but what exactly is it about (beyond the obvious)? “It’s about a young guy who’s about 20 years old who witnesses a mob hit in Hawaii,” said Sunny Mabrey, who plays a flight attendant. “[The mobsters] see him and they’re after him, and Sam Jackson is a FBI guy sent to protect him. He’s going to L.A. to testify against this guy, and [Jackson] tries to throw them off the track by putting him in the first-class section of a passenger plane. Somehow, a mafia guy gets these black-market deadly snakes and he finds a way to get them on the plane and mayhem ensues.” Though not all of her reptilian co-stars were real, Mabrey said you often couldn’t tell the difference. “There was one [fake snake] that was like a 20-foot Burmese python. I had my little dog with me on the set and I was like, ‘Stay in the trailer!’ ” “Snakes on a Plane” slithers into theaters August 18. …

Christopher Walken, the creative team behind “Reno 911!” and a title with the word “balls” in it? “I play this guy who’s an Olympic pingpong champ,” Tony-winning theater vet Dan Fogler laughed about “Balls of Fury,” a comedy that also stars George Lopez. “[My character] falls in with the wrong crowd and the CIA call upon him to kick some butt on the to-the-death pingpong circuit. How ’bout them apples?” Featuring Walken as a table-tennis-loving crime lord and Thomas Lennon as an East German pong pro, Fogler described the film as “Enter the Dragon” with pingpong. …

She’s one of the sexiest women alive, and now Eva Longoria is promising she’ll soon have an equally smoldering cartoon alter ego. “I am hot! I look like Jessica Rabbit!” the “Desperate Housewives” star laughed while describing her character in “Foodfight!,” an animated flick due in January. “I have the long, black hair, the green eyes, the va-va-voom shape. … I play Lady X, which is the bad girl.” Longoria said the inspired script is what attracted herself and co-stars Chris Kattan, Wayne Brady and Hilary and Haylie Duff. “It takes place in a supermarket. It’s what happens at night, when the lights turn off and everything comes to life. All of the icons on the boxes, like Charlie Tuna and Tony the Tiger and everybody, actually comes to life and they have a big community and all the aisles are different parts of the town. The discount aisle is like the ghetto; you don’t want to go over there. The cereal aisle is like Times Square. … I’m basically the generic brand that moves into the store, and I’m trying to take over, trying to kill of all of the name brands.” …

” ‘Jaws’ in Australia” is how “Silent Hill” star Radha Mitchell is describing her next film, a creature thriller called “Rogue.” “It’s very different because the director in this case is a young Australian guy and he directed a film recently called ‘Wolf Creek,’ ” she said of helmer Greg McLean. “His style is very naturalistic, so it really feels like you’re on this trip with people who are going to look at crocodiles in the Northern Territory.” Co-starring Michael Vartan (“Alias”), the film tells the story of an American journalist searching for an enormous croc. “There have been crocodiles [that were] 30-foot long … they’ve got skeletons of crocodiles that are this big,” Mitchell said. “It’s all very much within the context of reality, and we experience this sort of heightened situation, but the whole thing is set in the tone of naturalism and it just feels like it’s happening.” The flick is expected in theaters near the end of this year. …

What do you do after a tryst with “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” lays all of Hollywood at your feet? If you’re writer/director Judd Apatow, you grab as many co-stars as you can and get them “Knocked Up.” “Judd is just great at creating these amazing repertoires of great actors,” said Jay Baruchel (Danger from “Million Dollar Baby”), who’ll co-star alongside “Virgin” veterans Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann and Seth Rogan. “Seth hooks up with a girl who’s probably way hotter than him and probably wouldn’t sleep with him if she wasn’t drunk,” he said of the plot. “She ends up being late, and they decide to keep the baby and hilarity ensues. Me and ['Numb3rs' star David] Krumholtz and Jason Segel and Martin Starr [of 'Stealing Harvard'] and a bunch of other guys play Seth’s gang of buddies that live at his house, and we’re all workin’ on this Internet Web site, which is a compilation of celebrity sex scenes from various movies.”
