Nick Lachey Gets Ready To Play 'She Said, He Said'

Singer loses one sitcom role, picks up another.

Nick Lachey is making it easy on headline writers these days. The soon-to-divorce ex-"Newlyweds" star has signed on to star in a sitcom for the newly formed CW network entitled "She Said, He Said," according to TVGuide.com.

Not much information was available about the theme of the series — other than that it will mine the well-worn territory of the differences between men and women — but it comes amid news that the other show Lachey had in development, a romantic comedy in which he was to play a pro baseball player struggling through a new marriage, has been shelved (see "Nick Lachey A Newlywed Again"). That sitcom was supposed to appear on the WB, but it fell victim to the merger between the WB and UPN last month. The two networks will be reborn as the CW network.

Lachey, who has made guest appearances on "Charmed," "Hope & Faith" and "Twins," will also go toe-to-toe with his ex Jessica Simpson in an upcoming project.

The buff singer will vie for airtime with Simpson's ubiquitous Proactiv and Pizza Hut commercials with his starring role in an ad for trainer-to-the-stars Gunnar Peterson's new "Core Secrets" DVD series, according to Us Weekly. Appearing opposite "Rock Star: INXS" host Brooke Burke, Lachey — who could request spousal support from Simpson in their divorce proceedings — snagged a cool $500,000 for the shoot, which took place last summer before the couple officially broke up.
