Two Injured In Shootings Outside Lil' Flip Show

Club was cleared after incident, which took place while rapper performed.

As Lil' Flip performed inside, two people were shot on a corner outside the Quest nightclub in downtown Minneapolis early Sunday morning.

Police quickly cleared the club after the 2 a.m. incident and asked patrons to leave the venue with their hands up and submit to searches, according to an Associated Press report.

"A couple of officers actually saw the muzzle blast from the gun so they were very, very close," police spokesperson Ron Reier told WCCO in Minneapolis. The station reported that some patrons were asked to lie down on the ground as they were searched, and at least one was cuffed after exiting the club.

Though police said the shooting took place outside the club, patrons told WCCO that the scene inside as Flip performed was chaotic. "Some dude got shot up in there, because they were acting crazy," one patron said after leaving the club. "I don't even understand what the whole thing was about. They were shooting on the floor." The club has metal detectors and signs warning that guns are banned.

The unidentified man and woman who were shot were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made so far, according to police.

Flip did not hit the stage until after 1:30 a.m., which was later than advertised.

It's not the first time there has been violence at the Quest. In July 2004, three people suffered minor stab wounds and another patron was punched during a concert by G-Unit. Several people pelted police with bottles outside the club after that show.
