Newly separated Nick Lachey may again play a newlywed on TV.
The singer, whose separation from Jessica Simpson (see "It's Official: Jessica Simpson And Nick Lachey Split") was confirmed last week after months of tabloid speculation, will play a newly married baseball star in a pilot for the WB, network spokesperson Paul McGuire said Monday (November 28).
"Mad About You" co-creator Danny Jacobson is writing the half-hour show, which will shoot in April to be considered for the network's fall 2006 lineup.
"He's got a huge fanbase and we believe in Nick," McGuire said.
The still-untitled show is the result of Lachey's development deal with the WB, where he forged a relationship by co-starring on a few episodes of "Charmed."
Nick has also appeared on NBC's "American Dreams" and ABC's "I'm With Her," and his first movie, "The Hard Easy," came out last fall. Around that same time, he also shot a pilot with Gina Gershon for ABC that was not picked up (see "Nick Lachey's New Job? Errand Boy For 'Hot Mamma' Gina Gershon").
Along with acting, Nick has spent the past year recording his second solo album (see "Nick And Jessica Getting Back To The Reality Of The Studio") and has also talked of a 98 Degrees reunion.
