Kingsmen Own 'Louie Louie'

The Kingsmen, the garage rock band that scored a hit with "Louie Louie" in 1963, are entitled to all royalties earned by their recording of the song from 1993 onward, a federal appeals court ruled Friday. The band, which continues to perform, hasn't seen a penny from their recording, since at least 1968, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said. In recent years their recording was used in the film "Mr. Holland's Opus" and the TV show "3rd Rock from the Sun," as well as in Coke commercials, according to an Associated Press report.
