Flatlanders Reunite For Soundtrack

The Flatlanders, a legendary new-country combo featuring

singer/songwriters Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely and

Butch Hancock, have reunited to record the song "South Wind of

Summer" for the Robert Redford-directed movie adaptation of novelist Nicholas

Evans' "The Horse Whisperer." The soundtrack album is due to be released on

April 17. The Flatlanders previously recorded a 1972 album entitled More a

Legend Than a Band, which was unreleased until 1990. The soundtrack

also features songs by Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams,

Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch and Steve Earle.
