MEATBEAT Johnny is no longer in the band.

jedi17 Was it an amicable split, and will he be doing anything on his own? Was he the Andrew Ridgeley of Meat Beat?

MEATBEAT No, he was the George Michael of Meat Beat. I just do the beats.

jedi17 If you could work with anyone musically, who would it be?

MEATBEAT John Cage, if he was alive.

MEATBEAT I did a single with Andy Partridge in 1986.

raftby Do you think you will re-release any of the old Meat Beat CDs on Nothing Records?

MEATBEAT Not at the moment -- I'm thinking about starting up my own label.

jedi17 What sorta music would you be developing on your new label, or would it be for your side projects?

MEATBEAT No, it would be new bands.

jedi17 I really dig the last Emergency Broadcast Network record, but in a lot of ways it sounds very MBM. How much of the sound was yours?

MEATBEAT Heck, 80 percent.

jedi17 But do you think that the last EBN sounds MBMish?

MEATBEAT Not really -- it's more amorphous than anything else.

MEATBEAT Bass and bass clarinet.

jedi17 Do you ever turn down remixing jobs? Do the offers come flooding in?

MEATBEAT I've turned down more than I actually do. Nothing's flooding in at the moment.

MEATBEAT Cabaret Voltaire, Kraftwerk.

MEATBEAT Absolutely, 100 percent NO!
