Jesse McCartney, Dog-Tired From Walking, Plans To Hop On A Tour Bus

Actor/singer's trek kicks off May 2 in Sacramento, California.

LOS ANGELES — Jesse McCartney is used to balancing a TV show with a music career — it’s the all-night video shoots that throw him off.

“I’m so tired right now,” the actor/singer said a full three days after shooting the clip for “She’s No You” with director Sanji (Lauryn Hill, Tori Amos). “It takes place in Manhattan in the middle of the night, so we started shooting from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. It’s shot in black and white; it’s low-key and I’m constantly walking.”

“She’s No You” is the second single from McCartney’s platinum Beautiful Soul, following the title track (see “Jesse McCartney Plans Tour, Hints At Juicy ‘Summerland’ Drama” ).

The “Summerland” star co-wrote the tune, which he describes as a fun, personal, rhythmic song with a cool groove.

“It’s basically about making the transition from New York to Los Angeles when I made the move and about the person I left back home and adjusting to the new situation,” he explained of “She’s No You,” which opens with the verse, “They got a lot of girls who know they got it going on/ But nothing’s ever a comparison to you.”

McCartney is supporting the single with several TV appearances as well as his first national tour, which kicks off May 2 in Sacramento, California. About half the dates have been announced for the outing, which will wrap at the end of June.

Once he’s off the road, the singer will return to acting, in “Summerland” and then hopefully in a movie.

“I’m looking at scripts,” he said. “I’m actually planning on doing a film next year, next April. … I’m into drama. I love comedy, but it’s just I’m more of a dramatic actor. So I’m looking for a ‘Basketball Diaries’ type of role.”

In the meantime, fans can catch McCartney Saturday on the latest episode of MTV’s “Fake ID Club.”
