Surprise, Surprise: Dave Matthews Band Hitting The Road This Summer

Group kicking off its annual summer trek June 1.

For jam-band aficionados, no summer would feel complete without the Dave Matthews Band rolling through town for an evening of music spent under a star-soaked sky. That's because the DMB have consistently toured, summer after summer, since 1998 — and yes, this summer will be no different.

On Tuesday (March 1), the group unveiled the itinerary for its summer tour, which will kick off June 1 in Maryland Heights, Missouri, and make 48 stops before wrapping up September 7 in Bonner Springs, Kansas. No support acts have been announced.

The Dave Matthews Band will be touring in support of their as-yet-untitled new album, which they have written more than 20 songs for so far, according to their Web site (see "Dave Matthews Band Sharing Studio Sessions — And Fishing Excursions — With Fans") The LP, expected to hit store shelves in May, will feature several songs that should be familiar to DMB concert regulars, such as "Joy Ride" and "Hello Again," as well as new songs tentatively titled "Old Dirt Road" and "Die Trying."
