Superman may be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but he can't make a great movie without a leading lady and a sinister foil.
Kate Bosworth is in talks to play Lois Lane, and Kevin Spacey is confirmed to play Lex Luthor in the Bryan Singer-helmed Superman movie for Warner Bros. Pictures, which is slated for a summer 2006 release, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The chemistry between Bosworth and Brandon Routh, who will play Superman (see [article id="1492926"]"New Superman Movie Finally Has Its Man Of Steel"[/article]), reportedly helped Bosworth win the role of the Man of Steel's fellow reporter over such actresses as Claire Danes, Linda Cardellini and Michelle Monaghan.
The film would reunite Bosworth with her "Beyond the Sea" co-star Kevin Spacey, who was reportedly an early pick for the role of Superman's nemesis, but almost rejected the offer. Spacey's rehearsals for the play "National Anthems" at London's Old Vic Theatre, where he is the artistic director, caused scheduling problems, and it initially looked like he wouldn't be able to take the role. Spacey will also do a limited run of "The Philadelphia Story" at the Old Vic before beginning work on the Superman movie.
Filming for the as-yet-untitled Superman flick is set to begin in March.
