Incubus singer Brandon Boyd was arrested in New York on Wednesday for attempting to bring a switchblade on a flight.
Boyd was charged with criminal possession of a weapon after screeners at LaGuardia Airport discovered the knife in his carry-on bag, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport, told The Associated Press.
The singer was allowed on a later flight to Raleigh, North Carolina, so he could perform there that night (see [article id="1485362"]"Incubus Announce Dates For North American Tour"[/article]).
"I totally forgot it was at the bottom of my bag, and when the security person pulled it out, I thought, 'Oh, no,' " Boyd said in a statement Thursday (October 7).
Boyd arrived in Raleigh about 20 minutes before the band was due onstage, so his management arranged for a police escort to the Alltell Pavilion. "That was the most rock star of an entrance I've ever made," Boyd said. "The police cars pulled up to the venue and I literally walked right onstage."
Incubus' tour continues Thursday in Roanoke, Virginia, and ends November 19 in Loveland, Colorado.
