Despite the threat of criminal charges, New Paltz, New York mayor Jason West has said that he will continue to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Last weekend, West issued licenses to 25 gay sex couples in his tiny town 80 miles north of New York City, and he plans to do the same this weekend (see "Gay Weddings To Continue In Upstate New York Town, Mayor Says"). The mayor already has thousands of gay couples on a waiting list that grows every day.
