Linkin Park, P.O.D. Hitting The Road Together In '04

Six-week trek kicks off in early January.

The intro music for Linkin Park's winter tour probably won't be the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations," but maybe it should be, because the positive, nice-guy rockers are hooking up with the equally optimistic P.O.D. for about six weeks of North American dates.

The tour will start in early January and end in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the end of February, P.O.D. frontman Sonny Sandoval said. Linkin Park will headline the shows, for which exact dates have not yet been confirmed.

"Their success is huge. You can't knock Linkin Park's sales," Sandoval said about playing second on the bill. "There's no pride here. They're gonna go out, so what better package for the fans than for us to go with them? And they're awesome dudes. It's important that you go out with a band you can get along with."

It won't be the first time Linkin Park have played with P.O.D. "Those guys opened for us on our Fundamental Elements of Southtown [tour]," recalled drummer Wuv. "Then they blew up. We've always had respect for each other, and everybody seems to be on the same page as far as [being on] the positive tip."

Before the tour, P.O.D. will play Vancouver, British Columbia, on November 16; a Spike TV event in Las Vegas on December 2; and New York on December 6, their publicist said.

While Linkin Park will play the Cypress Hill Smoke Out on November 15 in San Bernardino, California, with Papa Roach, DMX, Obie Trice and others, the dates with P.O.D. mark Linkin Park's first U.S. tour since Summer Sanitarium, which also featured Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Deftones and Mudvayne (see "Metallica, Limp Bizkit Set Off Musical Fireworks At Summer Sanitarium"). Live in Texas, a CD/DVD combo from the tour, will be released November 18 (see "Linkin Park Sweat To The Hits On Live CD And DVD").

The night before the package comes out, there will be screenings of the DVD at 42 movie theaters across the country (see "Coming Soon To A Theater Near You: Your Favorite Band"). On Monday the members of Linkin Park will attend an exclusive screening in Los Angeles at the Regent Showcase Theater. Select tickets are available to members of the band's fan club, the group's publicist said.
